My family culture is based on the values and the beliefs that we have established over time.
As a result I would take the following three items.
1. Bible: The bible is essential to my culture and my religious beliefs. This item would help to explain what I believe in and what has defined my life.
2. African statue. This item expresses the creativity of the African American culture.
3. My grandmother's quilt. These quilts would explain what the African American family means as as a unit.
If I could only keep one item, I would keep the bible. This is the most important item for me.
Thank you Debra for sharing. I would also take my bible. It is a very important component of my culture. I believe that an item as this is something that many share in common.
ReplyDeleteI also choose my Bible and that would also be the one item to keep. I also liked the other items you choose as they would help you keep your family culture. I am also seeing the Bible as being something common with most of us. Good post.
ReplyDeleteDebra,
ReplyDeleteI love how everyone would take their Bible with them. I truly believe that having a strong foundation is key in this situation. I also like that you would take your grandmother's quilt. Being a unit, or being one and together is also important in this situation. Not only will the quilt keep you physically warm, it will keep me emotionally warm as well.
